Middle Years Programme (MYP):

As a continuum to the IB PYP, Choithram International offers the IBMYP program for students in the age group of 11 to 16. MYP is a coherent and comprehensive curriculum framework that provides academic challenge and develops the life skills of students.

Program model :

MYP fundamental concepts:
The MYP been guided by three principles holistic learning, intercultural awareness and communication. These fundamental concepts of the programme provide a strong foundation for teaching and learning in the MYP.

IB philosophy in the MYP
The programme has been developed with developmentally-appropriate attention to:

  • Conceptual understanding
  • Teaching and learning in context
  • Approaches to learning (ATL): Prime focus on developing skills
  • Service as action (community service)
  • Language and identity
  • Learning diversity and inclusion.

Personal Project:

All students at CI must complete the personal project, starting in the MYP year 4 and finishing by MYP 5. The personal project provides an excellent opportunity for students to produce a truly personal and often creative product/outcome and to demonstrate a consolidation of their learning in the MYP. Each student develops a personal project independently.
Service as action in MYP:
Action (learning by doing and experiencing) is an essential component of the learning process at CI both as part of the programme’s educational philosophy and as a practical outcome of students’ learning.

At CI we make it mandatory for the students to do a school initiated service activity, a unit driven service activity and a self initiated service activity.

Fulfillment of the school’s expectations for participation in community service is a requirement of the school as well as of IB MYP certificate.

At the end of MYP 5 students have an opportunity to decide whether they want to sit for the IGCSE or the MYP e-Assessments or both.

Academic review meetings: Parents-student-teacher conversations
At CI we believe student learning and progress is dependent on the strength of the partnership between the parents, student and teacher. We are an open school that wishes to build open relationships that lead to learning. We have regular academic review meetings in addition to the term end Parent students conferences. At the end of first term we also have the students led conference.
